If
you’re a freelance writer or web design professional,
chances are you’ve explored the option of bidding
sites – web pages where employers post individual
jobs that professionals compete for by posting
proposals and prices. However, since many bidding
sites charge a membership fee, you may be wondering
if they’re worth the trouble.
I’ve
been using iFreelance.com for about two months
now for freelance writing opportunities, and after
some deliberation, I’ve decided to stay with it.
There are a lot of jobs to be found here, ranging
from resumes to novels to translation to grant-writing,
and much more.
However,
it can be difficult to succeed here if you are
new to site and/or a new author. There’s a lot
of competition for writers, and favor seems to
go to those with long track records and glossy
publications in their profiles. And since you
can’t ever see your competitor’s bids, it’s impossible
to ever know exactly why you’ve lost to the people
you have. This can be frustrating and disheartening.
However,
I have had enough lucky breaks on this site already
to have it far more than pay for its own monthly
membership fee. I feel confident that with diligence
and vigilant watching, I will continue to do well.
Recommended for the serious writer.
