It
took a while to create my profile and resume,
but the project notifications system worked well
(with daily update emails) and there seemed more
guarantees that you would get paid. Furthermore,
for the about $80 a year (the exchange rate worked
in my favour), I got 100 leads a month and MUCH
better projects to bid on. The way the jobs are
presented is better, with a lot more detail in
most cases - and the site layout it good.

I
don't want to step on anyone's toes but I do have
one question, for all the people saying "I
have been bidding for three years and didn't get
one project" ....are you any good? I have
been on the site for four days and got two well
paying projects (completion this afternoon) and
one that I am still in negotiations with. These
three projects total $2350. Not bad for a weeks
worth of work and only eight bids. Both projects
that have been awarded to me were paid up (in
the escrow) and I've had no worries.

So
many rules, you can't track all of them. Do one
little mistake, and they close your project. There
are no providers there to bid on your projects
anyway. Such a mess.

Having
been a professional writer most of my life, I’m
always looking for markets and assignments. So
when I discovered there were several websites
that offer freelance registries, I was eager to
research them. My results showed that there are
several (ifreelance.com in particular) which were
efficient, easy to use and inexpensive. And then
there’s Guru.
First of all, their prices are exorbitant. Seventy-five
bucks a quarter, just to register! (that’s $300
a year, for the math-impaired) On top of that,
they take a percentage of your earnings! The most
heinous part of this site is that they offer a
“free” membership, but do not allow these members
to bid on any of the luscious-sounding jobs they
list. Moreover, having read most of their listings,
I believe the majority of them are spurious to
start with, posted just to lure wannabe pros.
So, if you’re a freelancer, stay away from this
site, unless you enjoy tossing your money into
a black hole.

I
have liked this site for years, it has a very
clear purpose and objective: state your business
and what you would like to charge for doing that.
People who are looking for specialists can thus
choose if they want your services or the services
from your competitor. Naturally it helps if you
have some positive feedbacks and a low fee per
hour.
